LUMBER GLUE LAMINATED (LGL)
Seldom seen hero
Long, straight & stable
LGL is an acronym for ‘Laminated Glued Lumber’ — a solid-wood outdoor alternative to LVL beams. Straight and stable in outdoor environments, LGL is also ideal in applications where nail-holding strength is an absolute priority.
Indoor and outdoor applications
H3 treated for indoor and outdoor, above ground applications.
Solid-wood alternative to LVL
Ideal for lintels, joists, and bearers, LGL is an alternative to LVL.
Nail holding strength
Engineered to not only hold high loads, but also a nail, making it easy to work with on site.
A fairdinkum product of Australia
Whether you’re a builder, designer, chippy or a homeowner, there’s a special appreciation for locally sourced timber, and it’s not hard to see why. Our timber is made from plantation pine grown in our own backyard and is designed to handle Australia’s harsh environment, to stay straight, and perform on the job, making light work of frames and trusses.
A breeze to work with
The renowned natural strength of timber is enhanced with our glue laminating process, ensuring it is ideal for long span and high load applications, but unlike some LVL it won’t delaminate when used outdoors, it is H3 treated for durability, and it can even hold a nail. GLT is a fraction of the weight of steel with the advantage of being easily cut, notched, or drilled on site.
Durable
Established in 1978, Hyne Timber's Glue Laminated Timber (GLT) Plant was one of the first in Australia. Located in Maryborough Queensland, the plant employs approximately 50 people to manufacture responsibly sourced Australian softwood (LGL & Beam 15) and hardwood (Beam 21) GLT products.
Good for the planet
The pine used in our LGL is sourced from sustainably managed Aussie plantations. In fact, building with LGL is an eco-conscious endeavour, because unlike some other building materials, Hyne GLT manufacturing is energy efficient and benefits from the use of biofuel. Not only that, but timber is renewable and locks carbon away. And as it happens, approximately 50% of the dry weight of timber is carbon absorbed from the atmosphere.
