The Golf Club is an integral part of the Tumbarumba community with more social members than golfers.
It is home to a broad range of community groups who access the Golf Club facilities for their own use as well as seeing many couples tie the knot and various other functions.
Club Captain, Michael Pearce said the Trust grant has not only provided a new roof, but this is a further enabler for investment in various other improvements and services.
“The Golf Club is over 100 years old so has seen various improvements and expansions over the years, but the leaky roof has dogged us for the last 20 of them.
“It is great to see this replaced completely thanks to the Hyne Community Trust which now means we can completely re-do the female amenities and re-paint the interior which suffered smoke damage from the bushfires.
“The bushfires also got us thinking about our role in future crises and we are currently applying for funding which, if successful, will see the Golf Club operating as an effective recovery centre, housing essential services for example.
“We are already home to a range of community groups including local football clubs, Senior Citizens groups, Rotary club events and Equine Clubs such as Polocrosse and the Rodeo to name a few.
“During the current improvement works, the Club has remained open for dinner Wednesday to Sunday and we encourage the local community and visitors to continue to enjoy what the Golf Club has to offer.” Mr Pearce said.
The Hyne Community Trust was established in 2007 and has provided almost $600,000 to the Tumbarumba community to date.
Community groups considering applying for a Hyne Community Trust grant this month must review the guidelines available here and consider how their application will provide long lasting benefits to the community.
Projects must be valued over $10,000 in order to meet the criteria. The 2021 round of grants closes to applications at the end of June.
